Angelica

Chinese angelica-dong quai (Angelica sinensis)

Dong quai is used in traditional Chinese medicine by women to strengthen the blood. It is useful in case of anemia, weakness, fatigue, as well as to relieve painful and irregular periods. Promotes fertility.

 

Since Chinese angelica a very active plant, it has certain contraindications. Thus, the consumption of Dong Quai is not recommended during the first 3 months of pregnancy, for women who are breastfeeding and for people with severe liver or kidney disease. Intake is also not recommended in case of anticoagulant drug treatment (in people suffering from cardiovascular problems). Also avoid consuming it before prolonged exposure to the sun because Chinese angelica contains photosensitizing substances.
